Beachcroft has completed more than 70 major transactions in the past week under the Department of Health’s Transforming Community Services (TCS) programme.
The firm completed the transactions, which relate to the transfer of community services from primary care trusts (PCTs) to new providers and range in value from £3m to more than £250m, by the DoH’s deadline of 1 April.
Beachcroft advised PCTs, foundation trusts and new NHS trusts on the route towards community foundation trust status in a variety of areas including business transfer agreements, employment, pensions, estates and regulatory matters such as registration with the Care Quality Commission.
A team of more than 40 lawyers worked throughout last week to ensure they hit the deadline.
The firm also worked with NHS Yorkshire and the Humber to provide the whole of the NHS with a suite of legal documents relating to the TCS programme free of charge.
Beachcroft partner and head of health and public sector Nigel Montgomery said: “The Transforming Community Services programme represents a fundamental part of the Government’s health reforms, and both PCTs and the acquiring organisations have had to resolve a wide range of issues and work to a very challenging timetable.
“Acting for both transferring bodies and recipients across the country means that we’ve been able to provide a fully connected and comprehensive service to clients nationally, and that we understand the issues on the transaction from both perspectives. That has enabled us to spread best practice and add significant value for our clients.”
