Beachcroft has appointed the former Home Secretary Charles Clarke MP as a consultant.
Clarke joins the firm to give advice on strategy, positioning and policy for Beachcroft and its clients.
He will work closely with former senior partner Lord Hunt of Wirral, who is chairman of Beachcroft’s financial services division and its regulatory consultancy arm. Both Clarke and Hunt are members of the Privy Council.
Clarke has been a Labour MP since 1997. He was Education Secretary from 2002 to 2004, and was then appointed as Home Secretary. He held the position until May 2006 when he was replaced by John Reid MP in a Cabinet reshuffle.
Senior partner Simon Hodson said the appointment would bring a “fresh, new perspective” to the firm.
Clarke said he believed the role would help him appreciate the challenges facing the commercial world.
