The British Basketball League (BBL) has appointed EMW Picton Howell as its sole legal adviser.
BBL chairman Paul Blake said the appointment was made ahead of the body’s plans to capitalise on the commercial opportunities that will be created by the London Olympics in 2012.
The Milton Keynes-based firm will provide all legal advice to the BBL, mainly relating to IP rights and sponsorship contracts. EMW is confident the relationship will create further opportunities with the 12 clubs that play in the league.
EMW sports head Simon Vumbaca said: “Access to high quality legal support will ensure that the league and its members have one of the essential tools they need to continue to grow and perform.”
Blake added: “Bringing in a strong legal team is an important part of our process of increasing revenues through the proper use of our licensing.”
