Lewis, who has previously worked at RPC, rejoins after seven years at the BBC as a member of the media practice, which is headed by Liz Hartley.
Hartley and Lewis both joined RPC in 1997, having left DJ Freeman to help establish the firm's contentious media group.
Lewis will concentrate on media law and judicial review as well as handling commercial contract disputes involving the media sector.
Hartley said: "We're thrilled to welcome Jaron back. He is one of the leading litigators in our field. Jaron's invaluable experience and understanding of the media sector will bolster our practice and add value to the service that we provide to our clients."
RPC's media team now comprises four partners, one consultant and eight associates, with an additional one joining in November.
The firm claims this now makes it one of the largest contentious media teams in the country.
