Bates Wells & Braithwaite posts lawyer to DTI

City-based firm Bates Wells & Braithwaite has seconded solicitor Abbie Rumbold to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Rumbold will help to draft new laws to set up a body named the Community Interest Company (CIC). The creation of the CIC is part of the Government's initiative to support the fast-growing social enterprise sector. Key features of the CIC include a lock on assets, preventing the payment of dividends to shareholders and the ability to issue preference shares with a fixed rate of return.
