A barrister and former justices' clerk is to be awarded an honorary degree by his home city's university. Keith Clarke, who ran Southampton Magistrates Court for 18 years, will receive his Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Southampton in July. Clarke was nominated for the award by the court in recognition of his contribution to the administration of justice in the city and his role in advising the lay magistracy. He was justices' clerk to the court from 1970 to 1988 and also served as clerk to the Hampshire Magistrates Courts Committee.
