The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Chinese junior lawyers will come to the UK to learn more about the English legal system and make international contacts, via a Bar Council programme.
The programme is aimed at Chinese-qualified lawyers who focus their practice on international commercial law and dispute resolution and have been practising for between two and 10 years. The programme is split into tutorials and practical placements.
The first week of the course, which runs for six weeks in June and July, is spent at BPP Law School, which is running a tailored, pro bono programme for the lawyers. The lawyers will spend the next five weeks at various barristers’ chambers, learning more about the way in which English chambers operate and making contracts to help them build international practices.
The Bar Council China Training Scheme (BCCTS) will run every summer with a focus on the training of young Chinese lawyers in international commercial law.
Maura McGowan QC, chairman of the bar, said: “This scheme is just one of many international initiatives of the Bar Council, be that exchanges, business delegations or training programmes, all of which form part of our international strategy aimed at sharing the knowledge and values of the bar.
“We hope that the scheme will contribute to our deepening collaboration with the Chinese legal profession and form an important part of Chinese practitioners’ efforts to expand their international practices.”
