A UK barrister who was recruited to jointly head Fox & Gibbons' Turkish office has started industrial tribunal proceedings against his former employers.

Ian Philliskirk, who joined the Middle East firm in January, quit after two months because he was unhappy with the way the office was being run.

He is now seeking damages based on his claims that the firm breached his contract.

Philliskirk had replaced Fox & Gibbons' partner Christopher Dixon who opened the office last year but who has since left Fox & Gibbons to set up his own practice in Dubai.

Turkish partner Ece Guner was co-head of the office.

A spokesperson at Fox & Gibbons said partners there were unwilling to make any comment on the tribunal. A pre-hearing review was heard at Cardiff Industrial Tribunal last week. The chairman is expected to decide whether the tribunal will go ahead in the next few weeks.
