Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has been appointed to the commercial finance panel of Lloyds TSB
The appointment is a coup for the two-partner finance practice, which specialises in asset-based lending and has more recently started to move into the acquisition finance arena.
Lloyds' decision to add Barlows to the panel was informal and was not part of a panel review. Barlows head of banking and finance Graham Wedlake said: "We did an informal presentation to introduce ourselves and because the firm had advised Lloyds before on an insurance deal, it was easy for our name to be added to the list."
"Because the firm had advised Lloyds before on an insurance deal, it was easy for our name to be added to the list" Graham Wedlake, Barlows
Wedlake said that he hopes to be instructed on financing for management buyouts and acquisition buyouts.
Barlows set up its finance department five years ago when Wedlake joined from Travers Smith Braithwaite. A year later, he recruited Neil James from Pinsent Curtis (now Pinsent Curtis Biddle).
The department's initial relationships were with the Bank of America and GE Capital. It has since been appointed to panels for Bank of Ireland and Bank of Scotland. Last July, it won a place on Barclays' business banking and lending panel.
