Eversheds ended its hunt for a new finance director last Monday (15 August) when Claire Hafner, formerly of Barclays, joined the firm.
Hafner, a chartered accountant, was formerly finance director of Barclays' UK banking division and had also previously spent three years at BT, also as a divisional finance director.
Hafner becomes one of just seven female finance heads among the top 50 firms in the UK, as revealed in exclusive research by The Lawyer (see page 15).
Hafner said she was looking forward to working in a partnership and expected buy-in at board level.
Bob Rabone, Eversheds' previous finance director, has joined Sheffield University as finance director.
At the same time, Evers-heds has also appointed Malcolm Simms as IT director responsible for its UK networks. Simms joins from Walt Disney TV International and Buena Vista TV, where he was vice-president of information services.
Simms has previously held a number of high- 0level IT management roles, including posts at Price-waterhouseCoopers and Thomson Consulting.
