The Bar Standards Board (BSB), the new regulatory body for barristers, has appointed two new heads.
Valerie Shrimplin, formerly the head of quality assurance at the Royal College of Surgeons, has been appointed the BSB’s head of education standards, while Julie Myers joins as the head of strategy and communications from the communications watchdog Ofcom.
Shrimplin has some fifteen years’ experience of quality assurance and the management of and policy making in education and standards.
Meanwhile, Myers has a background in regulatory policy-making, consumer affairs and organisational change. While at Ofcom she was most recently responsible for managing delivery of the high-profile investigation into the impact of food advertising on children.
Mark Stobbs, a BSB director, said he is delighted the two have joined the Board: "Both bring valuable knowledge and experience that the Bar Standards Board needs and which will help us greatly in meeting our future challenges."
