The Bar Council today (25 October) announced that Geoffrey Vos QC of 3 Stone Buildings is to succeed 6 Pump Court’s Stephen Hockman QC as vice-chairman.
Hockman replaces One Crown Office Row’s Guy Mansfield QC in the position of Bar chair in January 2006. 3 Temple Gardens Tax Chambers’ David Southern remains on the committee as treasurer, having been elected last year.
The committee will see the Bar Council through the separation of its regulatory and representative functions dictated by Sir David Clementi’s review of the regulation of the legal profession and the Government’s recent white paper on the future of legal services.
Vos was named Barrister of the Year at The Lawyer Awards in 2003.
