Mark Elliott has been appointed as global general counsel for commodities at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
He was previously head of legal for commodities for Europe, the Middle East and Asia, based in London. Elliott takes over from US-based Ronald Oppenheimer, who has left the bank to join oil and energy company Vitol to head a team of 22 lawyers in Europe, the US and Asia.
Elliott is a former head of legal for the London arm of Enron. Bank of America, which took over Merrill Lynch last year, appointed Sajid Hussein as Europe, Middle East and Asia head of legal earlier this year.
