Bakers partner takes Polish ministerial role

Baker & McKenzie Warsaw tax partner Miroslaw Barszcz has joined the Polish government as Vice Minister of Finance after less than a year at the firm.

At Baker & McKenzie, Barszcz provided tax advice to clients across the service and manufacturing sectors and for the Polish government, specialising in VAT advice to real estate and IT clients.

He played a key role in the firm’s tax advice to Polish telecommunications, banking and manufacturing sectors in the period surrounding EU accession.

Baker & McKenzie’s Warsaw managing partner Jur Gruszczynski said: “We congratulate Miroslaw on his new appointment at the Ministry of Finance. His professional attitude and experience will, I am sure, equip him perfectly for this new role”.

He takes up his ministerial role with immediate effect.
