Bakers names former IP head as successor to London chief Senior
Baker & McKenzie has elected IP partner Paul Rawlinson to succeed Gary Senior as managing partner of its London office.

Rawlinson stood unopposed for the post, with a vote held last week. Senior will stand down at the end of June, although whether he will return to full-time practice is yet to be decided (12 November 2012 ). He will remain at the firm.
Rawlinson headed the firm’s global IP practice between 2004 and 2010 and was re-elected to the firm’s management board in January 2011 (4 January 2011).
Senior started his first three-year term in September 2003 and added a one-year extension until 2007 while he considered whether to continue. Each term since then has lasted for three years, with the corporate partner telling partners when he was last elected that he would not pursue a fourth term.
Rawlinson has a strong following in the world of IP, with clients such as Calvin Klein, Unilever and British American Tobacco, some of Bakers’ largest clients. He joined the firm as a trainee in 1986, becoming a partner in 1995.
As managing partner he will take over responsibility for the day-to-day running of the London office.

In a statement Senior said of his successor: “Paul’s the ideal candidate to lead the London office of Baker & McKenzie into the next phase of its development.
“He has successfully undertaken a number of other management roles, in London and globally, and manages a number of our most significant global clients. Paul and I have worked together for over 25 years and I’m delighted he’s succeeding me as managing partner.”
