Baker & McKenzie London managing partner Gary Senior has been re-elected to the post for a second term.
Senior originally took up the position in December 2003. His second three-year term will begin on 1 September.
Senior said: "When I took over as managing partner it was a very different market and profitability was suffering in all firms. We've had to be very focused on our profitability and our revenue growth and we've been successful since then. We've achieved the recovery by focusing on our clients and driving our revenues."
During his tenure as managing partner Senior has overseen the firm's move to LLP status and has also seen profitability improve.
In terms of practice areas, Senior said corporate and banking have grown most significantly over the past three years in line with the firm's global growth.
Looking ahead to his second term, Senior said his main strategy will be to grow and develop all practice areas. In particular he would like to see the firm's IP practice grow, building on the success of the global trademark deal it struck with Unilever last year.
Senior was a corporate partner before taking on the managing partner role, replacing Russell Lewin. The latter moved up to sit on the firm's global executive committee.
