Baker & McKenzie to shed 70 positions

Baker & McKenzie has concluded its redundancy consultation, resulting in the loss of 70 jobs.

London managing partner Gary Senior said that more than 90 per cent of the job losses had been voluntary. The cuts include 21 fee-earners, 21 support staff and 28 secretarial staff.

The initial announcement about the redundancies in March had warned that up to 85 staff were likely to lose their jobs, with 20 to 30 lawyer positions at risk. It is understood that the entire London office was involved in the consultation.
