Baker & McKenzie swoops for CC San Diego partner

Baker & McKenzie has scooped Clifford Chance San Diego partner Maria Sendra.

Sendra is one of only two partners in Clifford Chance’s San Diego office. Sendra joined Clifford Chance from collapsed Californian firm Brobeck Phleger & Harrison two years ago.

Her departure follows the defection of the bulk of those former Brobeck partners to Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe earlier this week.

Sendra brings 13 years of legal experience to Baker & McKenzie, and will lead the firm’s corporate and securities group in Southern California. She will continue to focus on mergers and acquisitions, securities, initial public offerings, and corporate financings for a client base that includes US multinational corporations, venture capital funds and venture-backed emerging growth companies. Sendra spearheaded the California technology and China initiative while at Clifford Chance, a project she hopes to continue at Bakers.
