Baker Botts' London office has poached a corporate partner from Dewey Ballantine.
Andrei Yakovlev, who joined the firm today (3 July), will contribute to Baker Botts' efforts to expand its corporate practice in Eastern and Central Europe.
Walt Smith, managing partner at Baker Botts, said: "Andrei's international debt and equity transactional experience will provide our clients with the sort of legal knowledge required in the marketplace."
Yakovlev has experience in debt and equity transactions and has worked on a range of international arbitrations. He advised on the restructuring of Yugoslavia's debt following the disintegration of the country during the 1990s.
Smith said: "His familiarity with international business environments suits out commitment to being a major international firm to provide high-quality service to our clients around the world."
