Baker & McKenzie has appointed a new chief operating officer (COO) following the decision of incumbent Peter Smith to return to the UK and pursue a role away from the firm.
Craig Courter, who is currently the firm's chief technology officer, will replace Smith in the Chicago-based role. Smith's new position has yet to be made public.
At the same time, Baker & McKenzie has hired Clifford Chance's head of business development for Asia. Rob Gijsen will take on the newly-created role of director of business development at Baker & McKenzie.
