Axa Real Estate fills global legal role with internal promotion

Real estate portfolio and asset management company Axa Real Estate Investment Managers (Axa Real Estate) has appointed Sarah Leroy as global head of legal.

Heading a team of 14, Leroy has served as head of legal affairs over the last eight years and has been responsible for global legal issues relating to the management of real estate assets and commercial real estate loans. She takes up her new position following a restructure of the company’s legal team.

Prior to joining Axa Real Estate, Leroy specialised in mergers and acquisitions at Jones Day and French business firm August & Debouzy.

Commenting on Leroy’s appointment Axa Real Estate global secretary general Arnaud Prudhomme said that her sound experience and understanding of the requirements of the property markets across jurisdictions will be invaluable to providing Axa Real Estate with the strong and coherent legal and compliance support.

The news comes as Clifford Chance, SJ Berwin and SNR Denton earlier this month won roles on Axa Real Estate’s joint acquisition and redevelopment of an office site in the heart of the City (14 November 2011).

The joint venture sees Axa Real Estate and Macquarie-owned property adviser MGPA acquire and redevelop 6 Bevis Marks, the former James Capel building near Liverpool Street.
