Spedding led for the administrators of high street camera retailer brand Jessops on the sale of the brand and certain assets of Jessops to a number of buyers, including Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones. Others in the SNR Denton team were Candice Chapman (corporate), Jason Sheard (real estate), Scott Singer and Cassie Gilbert (TMT), Rachel Anthony, Zoë Thirlwell and Linda Ralli (insolvency) and Catherine Astruc (banking and finance).
What was unique about the structuring or nature of the deal?
I wouldn’t say the structuring or nature of this deal were unique, but it was a high-profile retail name and the sales were completed in a very short timescale.
Which other deals have you taken the lead on?
The most recent high-profile deal I led was acting for Deloitte as administrators of Chez Gerard in the disposal of its flagship restaurants to Brasserie Blanc.
What was the first deal you worked on as trainee or lawyer?
Probably a PFI deal for a Scottish sewage plant. I’m glad to say that the subject matter has improved since then.
