The exodus of Serious Fraud Office (SFO) senior management has seen assistant director John Benstead enlist with litigation boutique The Khan Partnership.
Last month Benstead was named as one of three assistant directors leaving the SFO following the departure of former director Robert Wardle and deputy James Kellock.
He joins The Khan Partnership to work alongside partner Andrew Picken on expanding and growing the firm’s business regulatory and defence department.
On leaving the SFO, Benstead said: “I made my decision to go before Richard Alderman was appointed director, so it had nothing to do with the SFO changes. In fact, I’ve known Richard for years and he was my line manager at the [Inland] Revenue.”
Helen Garlick, one of the other assistant directors to leave, is understood to have retired, although she may take a consultancy role.
