Ashurst has appointed tax specialist Heiko Penndorf as a partner in its Frankfurt office.
Previously a partner at Mayer Brown in Frankfurt, Penndorf advises on the tax aspects of various M&A, finance real estate and capital markets.
He was a member of the team advising US financial investor Lone Star on various portfolio transactions. He has also advised Volkswagen Financial Services AG on its first residual value securitisation, and Soffin on the establishment of the first German ‘bad bank’ in 2009.
Ashurst’s German managing partner Peter Junghänel said in a statement: “We are delighted to welcome Heiko to the partnership. He has a significant amount of transaction expertise and is a perfect match for our tax team.”
Tax associate Felix Krüger will also be moving to Ashurst from Mayer Brown, along with Petra Fendt, who will be joining as a senior associate in the banking team.
