SJ Berwin advised Tamar and its investors on its establishment, with corporate partner Ylan Steiner heading up the team alongside associate Samuel Roberts.
The £65m investment was led by RIT Capital Partners and Fajr Capital, with other investors including Duchy of Cornwall, Lord Rothschild’s Family Interests, Sustainable Technology Investments, Low Carbon Ventures and Tamar‘s management team.
Fajr Capital hired Ashurst, which fielded a team led by European corporate head Simon Beddow and associate Nicola McKenzie.
Sainsbury’s, a strategic partner in the deal, hired SNR Denton corporate managing associate Simon Mitchell, with Tamar’s management using Adams & Remers.
The deal follows SJ Berwin’s hire of an energy and infrastructure duo from Greenberg Traurig Maher earlier this year (11 January 2011).
