Ashurst has redeployed three corporate and three finance junior associates to its energy, transport and infrastructure (ETI) team as the transactional side of its business has slowed down.
In contrast to the core corporate team, the ETI team has been very busy in recent months, requiring significant capacity.
One Ashurst corporate partner told The Lawyer: "Historically there have always been a lot more people come into corporate than into ETI, but there’s always been a degree of pressure to encourage others to look at ETI.
“We’ve now said to a number of corporate junior associates that they’re more likely to get good corporate experience in the ETI team in this climate.”
However, the partner added that such internal ETI secondees would continue to be categorised as corporate associates and could return to the department at the end of their secondment.
