Ashurst makes first US lateral with Alston & Bird hire

Alston & Bird financial services partner Margaret Sheehan will join the Washington DC office in the next two weeks, bringing Ashurst’s partner headcount in the city to five.

Sheehan will work in the international regulatory group under practice head James Perry.

Ashurst Washington DC managing partner Scott Faga said: “For us this is a particularly important hire as Margaret fits in to the global strategy of the firm. This is someone we thought would be very welcome to the regulatory practice.”

Sheehan has experience representing a range of clients including investment companies and advisers and broker-dealers on regulatory issues, particularly in their dealings with the SEC.

The latest hire takes the total number of partners in the US to 17.
