Ashurst hires RBS UK corporate head

Mark Vickers

Doyle, who joins the firm on 1 December, is the firm’s second lateral hire in a month following the arrival of restructuring partner Dan Hamilton from White & Case.

Prior to Hamilton’s move Ashurst had not made any lateral hires since 2001.

The two new recruits cement the firm’s recent focus on its restructuring practice, with the team now sitting in an expanded banking group in a bid to enhance knowledge sharing.
Doyle’s role will also be to help Ashurst build its client coverage, particularly in the banking sector.

Ashurst restructuring managing partner Mark Vickers said: “We’ve seen massive changes taking place in the banking industry – there’s been massive upheaval both in the marketplace and organisationally within the banks.

“Lee will help us on the way we build strategies that take account of how banks want to receive legal services in the new-world environment.”

Speaking about hiring an in-house lawyer, Vickers added: “I think it’s very innovative, very dynamic and shows a real commitment to enhancing our role and relationships with key banks.”
