Ashurst grows in Middle East via International Power link-up" />Ashurst is expanding its fledgling presence within the Middle East off the back of its growing relationship with new client International Power.
The silver circle firm is understood to have been provided with access to office space throughout the Middle East by the energy giant, including in the lucrative markets of Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
The move bolsters Ashurst's presence in the Middle East. The firm launched its only official office in the region in Dubai last September.
The arrangement with International Power comes after the energy giant's former Middle East general counsel David Wadham joined Ashurst's Dubai office in April. Since his appointment the firm has been advising International Power on an increasing number of matters.
The energy group's new Middle East general counsel Graham Methold explained that Wadham was continuing to work on several projects that had been in the bidding phase at the time of his move.
Methold said that, as an external legal adviser, Wadham "can use facilities that we have in the region" in order to facilitate his advice to the company.
