Ashurst has made its first lateral partner hire in the US since it launched in the jurisdiction last year.
Alston & Bird financial services partner Margaret Sheehan will join the Washington D.C. office in the next two weeks, bringing Ashurst’s partner headcount in the city to five.
Sheehan will work in the international regulatory group under practice head James Perry.
Ashurst Washington D.C. managing partner Scott Faga said: “For us this is a particularly important hire as Margaret fits in to the global strategy of the firm. This is someone we thought would be very welcome to the regulatory practice.”
Sheehan has experience representing a range of clients including investment companies and advisers and broker-dealers on regulatory issues, particularly in their dealings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
The latest hire takes the total number of partners in the US to 17.
