...as legal head goes to Barclays

Henderson Investors' head of legal and compliance has left to join Barclays after five years at the company.

Mark Phythion-Adams is joining Barclays' private banking unit as head of risk and compliance and will begin work at the department on 15 November.

Jeremy Ogden, legal director in retail financial services at Barclays, says the move is a career change for Phythion-Adams, since his new role will focus on risk rather than solely legal matters.

"He has not been recruited for a purely legal role," says Ogden.

"It will involve all the risk issues related to private banking and how it relates to operations.

"When we go out and lend money we don't want to lose it and if we do, we monitor the extent of it," he says.

Henderson Investors refuses to comment on Phythion-Adams' reasons for leaving.

However, a spokeswoman for the company says that it is now seeking a replacement to head up the 10-strong team.
