Arnold & Porter picks first UK partner to head London

Arnold & Porter appointed the first non-US partner to head its London office last week.

Former administrative partner and head of the firm’s UK competition practice in London Tim Frazer takes over from Lee Narrow.

“When we were much smaller and the office was less active we felt it was useful to have a US partner heading London,” said Narrow. “Now the firm’s definitely looking to grow London, it’s much busier and a growing number of US partners regularly travel back and forth between London and the US. We concluded it was no longer necessary.”

Narrow, who has been head of London for the past five years, plans to remain with the firm and in London, although he will reach the mandatory retirement age of 65 this year.

“We have a ‘step down’ arrangement for partners that allows them to stay with the firm for two to three years on a reduced basis after they officially retire,” said Narrow. “I expect to stay on that basis for at least a year or two.”
