US law firm Arnold & Porter has launched an initiative to offset its carbon footprint, partnering with climate change consultancy Carbonfund.org.
The project is called the Green Office Initiative and will see the firm give money to renewable energy and reforestation projects in a bid to offset the carbon it burns through business travel.
Arnold & Porter chairman Thomas Milch said: “Although the firm cannot eliminate business travel, we want to demonstrate our commitment to sustainable business practices wherever possible.”
He added: “Our programme generally aligns us with what many of our clients are doing to address climate change.”
The move comes as many UK firms look to reduce their impact on the environment.
In a recent survey by The Lawyer, Addleshaw Goddard was crowned the greenest firm with carbon emissions of 5.8 tonnes per lawyer.
