Senior environmental lawyer Mike Gerrard takes over from Willett, who has served 10 years as the firm's New York managing partner. Arnold & Porter’s New York office now has 86 lawyers, making it the second biggest opertation in the Washington DC-headquartered firm.
Firm chairman Thomas Milch said: "John has played an important role on management issues throughout his time with the firm, and his assistance has been invaluable in the operation and growth of the New York office."
"Mike will bring to his new role the energy and commitment that has led to his sterling reputation in the New York legal community and the international environmental bar."
Gerrard has been with the firm since 1994. As well as a stint chairing the American Bar Associations’ environment, energy and resources section, Gerrard has advised an impressive rosta of Manhattan clients, including Silverstein Properties on environmental aspects of planning the reconstruction of the World Trade Center site.
