Dickson Minto and Reed Smith have scored lead roles in a midmarket deal that created one of the world's largest architecture practices, the transatlantic union between Edinburgh-headquartered RMJM and Hillier, the US's fifth-largest architecture firm. Dickson Minto, also based in Edinburgh, paired with Boston-headquartered Burns & Levinson to advise RMJM on its £35m takeover of Hillier. RMJM is best known for completing Scotland's Holyrood parliament building and recently won a tender to design Russian conglomerate Gazprom's world headquarters. Reed Smith took the lead role advising Hillier. Financial advice was provided by Florida's West Investment Banking and Mercadien, while RMJM turned to Deloitte and EFCG.
