Latin America
For more than three decades, Appleby's Latin America team has provided legal guidance on offshore services and products. We act for a diverse group of Latin American clients and have represented the three largest companies, as well as many of the major financial and insurance institutions in Latin America, in business transactions. Our lawyers also provide private client, estates and high net worth individual services. Members of our Latin America team have a wealth of experience in international commercial and financial transactions, Spanish and Portuguese language capabilities and a cultural understanding of business activities, as well as extensive contacts within the Latin American private and public sectors. They represent a cross-section of the group's practices, including lawyers from our Corporate and Commercial teams; Private Clients and Trusts; and Litigation and Insolvency. Telecommunications and technology
Appleby's Telecommunications and Technology team advises corporate entities and individuals on the establishment and operation of telecommunications and technology companies. Areas covered include:
- Owning and operating fibre optic cables, satellites, satellite constellations and fibre-optic cable networks
- Owning and operating telecommunications support facilities
- Owning, licensing and developing intellectual property rights and patents
- Registration of trade marks in Bermuda, the Caribbean, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey and several countries in Latin America
Our telecommunications and technology lawyers have an in-depth understanding of the sector and, as such, are able to provide legal solutions from solving the practicalities of basic transactions to the more difficult, technical issues associated with complex structured products. For instance, we have advised in relation to the structuring and operation of joint venture companies and the creation of companies that, after private equity investment, have subsequently been taken public.
