Magic circle firm Allen & Overy has shot up 13 places to rank third on the European M&A league tables published by Bloomberg, Thomson Financial and Mergermarket for announced deals.
A&O jumped from 16th to third spot in the Thomson Financial third-quarter M&A league table for announced deals, after advising on 173 deals totalling $178.39bn.
Meanwhile, Clifford Chance knocked magic circle rival Linklaters from the number one spot, advising on 241 deals totalling $235.51bn.
Recent deals for Clifford Chance during the past three months include advising Oger Telecom on its $6.55bn (£3.55bn) acquisition of a 55 per cent stake in Turk Telekom, as well as acting for Temasek Holdings on its purchase of a £3.1bn stake in the Bank of China.
Linklaters slipped to second spot, advising on 168 deals at a total value of $214.2bn.
