The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
A&O caused quite a stir when they opened in Australia earlier this year with a raid on Clayton Utz (see story).
Unlike previous UK entrants to the Aussie market - think DLA Piper or Norton Rose - the magic circle firm decided to launch with a 17-partner team focused on capital markets work and the energy and natural resources sectors rather than going for a full service domestic offering. The rationale was to focus on high level work, particularly inward and outward flows between the dynamic East Asian economies and Australia.
But now A&O has branched out from this niche with the hire of Mallesons Stephen Jacques partner and competition specialist Dave Poddar (see story), whose practice will complement the existing team.
Of course, what everyone really wants to know is whether Poddar has jumped ship for one magic circle firm before his firm merges with another? ——————————— It’s that time of year again: The Lawyer Awards take place this evening in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel and this year we will be Tweeting all the winners as they are announced.
