A&O in bid to dominate US work in London

Allen & Overy (A&O) has moved to bulk up its US capability in London with the hire of an equity capital markets partner from Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.

In a bold commitment to its US-UK transactional practice, the firm has taken on Robert Williams in its London-based US corporate finance group.
Thomas Jones, managing partner of A&O’s US law practice, said: “The US remains the largest capital market in the world. It’s a vital source of funding, not just for domestic economy, but for companies around the world.”
Williams’ hire comes after A&O last week signalled its belief in the renaissance of the US high yield market with the recruitment of partner Kevin Muzilla from Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy.
