Allen & Overy (A&O) has boosted its Middle East finance practice with the hire of Simmons & Simmons partner Samer Eido.
Doha-based Eido headed Simmons’ financial markets group in the Middle East and has experience advising on general banking, corporate lending, trade finance, real estate finance and refinancing, with a focus on conventional and Islamic structured finance.
He joins A&O as a partner in its Qatar office and will work on the international and local aspects of corporate, finance, capital markets and real estate work.
In a statement A&O’s Qatar office managing partner Robert Porter said: “Qatar’s an important economy as the largest LNG [liquefied natural gas] producer in the world with increasing private and international investment in non-energy sectors and an expected increase in infrastructure projects investment ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
“Samer’s one of the most highly respected lawyers in Qatar and his appointment further strengthens our well-established Middle East practice.”
As well as an office in Qatar, A&O has offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and an associated office in Riyadh.
