A&O defector keeps entire Mannheim complement

German-qualified patent litigation specialist Marcus Grosch has taken over the lease on A&O’s Mannheim office as well as hiring the lawyers and support staff. The move leaves A&O without a home in the city, although it is understood to be in the process of fitting out a new base there.

The UK firm originally gained its Mannheim office in 2007 when it hired Grosch from IP boutique Schilling & Grosch, where he was a name partner.

“It had been our previous office, so we’re staying where we are,” said Grosch.

A&O is understood to have kicked off the search for new offices earlier this year to coincide with the relocation of M&A partner Hans-Christoph Ihrig.
