A&O creates new Abu Dhabi boss postAllen & Overy (A&O) has elected Ibrahim Mubaydeen as new managing partner of its Abu Dhabi office.

The election of Mubaydeen follows that of Wim Dejonghe and David Morley as managing and senior partner respectively, and Kevin O’Shea as the new managing partner in New York.

The firm’s Abu Dhabi outpost was only launched last year (as reported on www.thelawyer.com 15 June 2007) but until now has been without its own managing partner.

Dubai managing partner Simon Roderick has been responsible for managing the Abu Dhabi office until now. Roderick remains the UAE’s managing partner.

A&O’s Abu Dhabi office launched with a raid on Simmons & Simmons in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), taking Simmons’ Abu Dhabi managing partner Mubaydeen and finance partner Franc?ois Duquette from Simmons’ Dubai office. Jas Gillar from A&O’s Singapore office also accompanied the initial charge in Abu Dhabi.

Mubaydeen is English qualified but has been based in Abu Dhabi for 12 years, specialising primarily on project finance and corporate work.
