A&O, CC and Norton Rose win £4.5bn Barclays deal

Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance and Norton Rose have scooped lead roles on Barclays' £4.5bn share issue.

Norton Rose partner Martin Scott led the firm advising the China Development Bank in its purchase of £136m of new shares. The mandate is the first the firm has won since being elected onto the bank's panel in June.

Longstanding Barclays advisers Clifford Chance is advising the bank on the investment which will see sovereign wealth funds including the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) invest £1.7bn in the financial institution.

Allen & Overy partner Andrew Ballheimer is leading the magic circle firm advising Japanese investment bank Sumitomo Mitsui on its purchase of £500m of new Barclays shares
