Allen & Overy (A&O) is looking for up to 20 associates and partners to man its booming offices in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and has launched a major internal recruitment drive to try to satisfy the demand.
A&O UAE managing partner Simon Roderick visited London and Amsterdam last week with a crew of six lawyers from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to convince staff of the benefits of relocating.
Roderick said: "The Middle East has become one of our strategic priorities - it clearly makes sense to send people where the work is."
Roderick added that he would focus on three main selling points: the quality of work available, the benefits of tax-free earnings and 365 days of sunshine per year.
"We'll put on a big show and see if we can pique people's interest," said Roderick. "The purpose is a big presentation to the troops about living and working in the Emirates, with a view to hopefully attracting some people."
