A&O and SJ Berwin lead on $3.2bn General Electric deal

Allen & Overy (A&O) and SJ Berwin have taken the leading mandates on the $3.2bn (£1.96bn) sale of engineering group Converteam to General Electric.

SJ Berwin’s Paris office acted for Barclays Private Equity, part of a consortium of owners that also included LBO France. The SJ Berwin team was led by corporate partners Maxence Bloch and Thomas Maitrejean.

A&O advised General Electric, fielding a team led by Paris corporate partner Jean-Claude Rivalland.

Mayer Brown acted for LBO France. Paris M&A partners Xavier Jaspar and Thomas Philippe led the deal.

There were also roles for Scotto & Associés as adviser to the management team and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, which advised Converteam on competition issues.
