Allen & Overy’s (A&O) global markets board chair Cathy Bell-Walker and Dentons’ global chair Joe Andrew have been confirmed as the keynote speakers for The Lawyer‘s Global Collaboration Summit in March.
With the theme of the conference firmly on how firms are working to expand cross-border relationships, Andrew will talk delegates through Dentons’ ambitious growth strategy. That has seen the firm seal five mergers in the course of 2015 in addition to taking on several mass team hires and open offices in Johannesburg and Milan.
Meanwhile Bell-Walker, who is in charge of A&O’s successful strategy of combining international expansion with a broad network of independent referral partners worldwide, will talk about how firms can fulfil clients’ global needs.
Last year The Lawyer identified A&O as the most successful of the four magic circle players when it came to international expansion, with 22 office launches in the last 10 years.
General counsel lined up to offer their views on how firms should address clients’ international needs include Carillion’s Richard Tapp and Wolseley’s Richard Shoylekov.
Speakers at the summit are drawn from around the world. Views from Asia will be provided by top lawyers including Fosun Group general counsel Xu Yao, Jun He partner Warren Hua and King & Wood Mallesons co-CEO Zhang Yi.
Africa is also represented, with speakers including Sonal Sejpal, a director from Kenyan firm Anjarwalla & Khanna.
Meanwhile some of Europe’s biggest independent firms will also be sharing their views, including representatives of Garrigues, Mannheimer Swartling and Noerr.
