A&O’s Rink jumps ship to Eversheds

Emma Vere-Jones

Former Allen & Overy (A&O) managing partner John Rink is to become a non-executive director on the Eversheds board when he steps down from a similar role on the A&O board at the end of April.

Rink was managing partner at A&O from 1994 until he stepped down from the role last year, since which time he has held the role of a non-executive director on the magic circle firm’s board.

He was expected to hold the position of non-executive director for only a year, to oversee the transition period after David Morley took over the role of managing partner.

At Eversheds, Rink will take over from Roger Dickens, a former senior partner from KPMG, who has held the role for five years. The national firm has five non-executive directors, three of whom are partners.

“John will replace Roger and, in addition to sitting on the board, he will provide some consultancy advice to the executive,” said Eversheds chairman Keith James.

As well as sitting on Eversheds’ board, Rink is also a non-executive director of property company Brixton Estates.

A&O has no plans to replace him in the immediate future.
