The Society for Computers and Law is holding its annual awards for law firms which develop innovative applications for IT. The award is a chance to air uses of IT in law firms to the rest of the profession and its IT advisers. John Irving, of BDO Stoy Hayward and this year's chair of the judges, said: "I believe that many partners or IT specialists involved with systems in the legal profession may feel that the award is for 'quantum leap' technology only. The judging panel would like to review any recent innovations, however simple." Potential entrants should apply to Ruth Baker at the Society for Computers and the Law by 6 November.
