Angel confirmed as Linklaters chief

Linklaters has re-elected Tony Angel as worldwide managing partner.

Angel, who, it is understood, was elected after standing uncontested, has held the post since November 1998 and will now serve until June 2007.

During his first term, the firm has grown throughout Europe through a range merger as well as forging joint ventures with, for example, Allen & Gledhill in Singapore.

Angel said: "My first term has been enjoyable and challenging.

"I am determined to leave the firm in an even stronger position at the end of my second term."
