Andersen Legal, in its bid to boost its presence in French capital markets, has signed up Serge Durox, the founder of Coudert Freres' Paris capital markets practice.
The accountancy-tied firm has made three other partner hires for its burgeoning capital markets practice this year. It raided US firm Dewey Ballantine's London office for Drew Salvest and Paris firm Gide Loyrette Nouel's banking and finance practice for Jean Thibaud. Andersen Legal's capital markets practice is headed by Gilles Thieffry, former head of capital markets at Norton Rose in London. Figures show that the firm has the fourth-largest turn-over in France for the practice as a whole, taking in FFr626m (£59.68m) last year. Durox has worked mostly in financial market regulation and derivative products. European managing partner Patrick Bignon said: "We've made a determined effort to build a capital markets capability in Paris and London - Serge's recruitment is part of that process."
